Dear Students,

Welcome to exploring education and life at Archbishop Alter High School. We hope you will consider us your first choice for your high school education.

Alter High School is a community built on years of success – academic and athletic, spiritual and social, within our classrooms and in the community.  Contributing to that success is a strong and fundamental sense of purpose that is shared by all of our students, faculty, and administration. 

Students join the Alter High School community by choice: they choose to take themselves seriously as students, and to respect the students and teachers with whom they share their experiences.  Students who choose to become an Alter Knight can expect a rigorous academic curriculum, individual attention from committed educators, and an emphasis on spirituality and service to others --- while making friends and building lasting relationships along the way.

We are a school community whose goal is to educate and develop leaders. We offer an education with a foundation in the Catholic faith, challenging our young people to maximize their God-given talents and strengths. Our students choose to share their strengths and talents whether in the classroom, on the athletic fields and courts, at club and organization meetings, in concerts, at drama performances or during retreats and liturgies.

In addition, Alter High School students choose to enter an environment, where class format, curriculum choices, and the use of technology mirror the challenges and opportunities that await each student on today’s college campuses.  Innovative programs such as the Taylor College Resource Center, the Alter Scholars Program and the Conservatory for the Fine Arts provide all students the opportunity to develop outstanding resumes that catch the eye of college recruiters.
