Think you can’t afford Alter?

Think again.   At Alter, we understand that choosing a private, parochial high school is a major financial decision for families. For that reason, we have worked very hard to keep our overall tuition as low as possible while also considering the variance in household incomes. In addition, we continually seek ways each year to increase our available tuition assistance through scholarships, grants and financial aid. Options continue to grow each year!  We encourage you to talk with us and let us help you find the best financial solutions that match your family’s needs.  We want your child to be part of Alter, and we want to do all that’s possible to make that happen. Give us a call and we’ll give you the answers. 937.434.4434.

The Financials

Application Fee -  Complete and return the application with the $100 application fee to the Admissions Office. The form is available two ways:

  • A paper copy is available from the Admissions Office.
  • A pdf copy can be downloaded and printed.

Applications must be received by March 3rd in order to have materials ready for our Priority Registration Evening.

Tuition Work Sheet - The intent of the work sheet is to help you determine the total tuition cost. On the worksheet give the name(s) of student(s) who will be enrolled at Alter for 2010-11. Using the tuition categories below, determine the annual tuition for the student(s) you identified. Print out the Instructions, Tuition Work Sheet and Tuition Commitment Form . If you want us to mail you the form, please call (937) 428-5337. Return the completed Tuition Worksheet and Tuition Commitment Form with your tuition deposit via mail (see address at the bottom of this page) or by dropping it off to the school office. The tuition worksheet can not be faxed as the tuition deposit must accompany it.

Note: The actual cost to educate a student for the 2010-2011 academic year will be $8,800. The difference between the actual cost and tuition is made up through alumni support, fundraising, and other sources of revenue.

Tuition Assistance - Alter High School offers a tuition assistance program for those of you who qualify. Financial need evaluations are conducted through the Private School Aid Service (PSAS). The program is offered to all families, and all are encouraged to apply. Because the amount of tuition assistance is limited, grants are awarded based on need. Alter's school authorization code is 3864. Attached is a link for using the online application which can be reached by clicking here. PSAS forms must be filed by the due date in order to be considered for tuition assistance. Grant recipients are notified at the beginning of May.

Tuition/Fee Payment Date - All tuition, fees, and fines are to be paid according to the payment schedule published at the time of registration. Alter will not process any college applications or release transcripts for any student whose tuition is in arrears. Students with a tuition balance at the end of the school year will not receive report cards, transcripts, nor will they be allowed to return to Alter the following year. Seniors who have an outstanding balance at the end of the school year will not receive their caps and gowns nor take part in the graduation ceremonies. Transcripts, diplomas, and report cards will be released when full payment had been made.

Important Note: If there are unforeseen circumstances that prevent making tuition payments on the due dates, please contact the business manager at least 10 days before payment is processed to avoid bank and late charges. The principal/designee must approve special arrangements.

Tuition Refund - If a student is in attendance for any part of a quarter, tuition will be paid for the entire quarter. If a student withdraws from Alter, tuition already paid for the quarter(s) in which the student will not attend is refunded. Fees are not refundable for students withdrawing from Alter.
