Class Trip Notes and Reminders

Parent letter mailed in June 2009 giving dates and details of this year's senior trip.

From the Guidance Department

The senior year is a very important one for your son or daughter. It is one of transition as your senior completes plans for the post-high school years. In the fall we will be meeting extensively with your senior to review credits and discuss his or her future plans.

Throughout the first semester representatives from several Ohio colleges and universities will be visiting Alter. Your son or daughter will have opportunities to meet with these representatives to gather information and ask questions. Also, during the junior/senior years a total of three college visits are permitted; guidelines are outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook).

Information regarding the college application process is available in the Guidance Office and will be presented and distributed to every senior in early fall. Please ask your son/daughter to share this information with you. Also, please remind your senior that applications to be mailed before the Christmas break must be in the Guidance Office in early November.

The senior bulletin board, located outside the Guidance Office, provides college and scholarship information throughout the year. The Internet is now the primary source for college information.  Your student was offered a list of pertinent websites at his/her junior conference and again in early fall during class meetings; this list and other updated information will be available again at the senior conference.

Athletes desiring to play Division I or II sports in college must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net or information may be picked up in the Guidance Office. The website will  instruct the student to download a form to bring to the Guidance Office in order to have a transcript  sent. Prospective college athletes must also arrange to have their ACT/SAT scores sent from the testing service (this can be done online—Clearinghouse code is 9999).

We feel confident that Alter will provide your child with the tools necessary to have success in college and in life. Do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance to you.
