Financial Assistance Opportunities
The Taylor Family Scholarship Fund
Recognized as Alter's most academically prestigious scholarship, each year John and Connie Taylor award the top ten performers on the High School Placement Test $3,200 to start their freshman year at Alter. The scholarship is then renewable all four years by maintaining a 3.5 GPA.
Qualifications?
Simply register to take the High School Placement Test at Archbishop Alter High School and we will contact you if you've been identified as a recipient.
The Knights Council Leadership Award
Due to the generosity of Alter's annual Knights Council contributors, two incoming freshmen of Catholic elementary schools are selected to receive a one-time award of $1,000 toward their tuition at Alter.
How to apply?
Express your interest to your Catholic school's principal, certain first that you are demonstrating leadership in your parish and school by participating in extra-curricular, volunteer, and service activities. These are several eligibility factors required for this special award. Your principal can then decide to nominate you to Alter's Knights Council selection committee.
Alter Family Foundations
Many who have reaped the benefit an Alter education provides want to help more parents make Alter a reality for more children. Numerous Alter families have established scholarship awards for incoming students - too many to list here. The parameters and definitions of each vary, but the result is the same: more opportunities to get the help when needed.
How to apply?
Simply tell us you are interested in all the scholarship incentives Alter has available and we will tell you the next steps that need to be taken.
The Alter Booster Association Grant
Five incoming freshmen from local Catholic schools are offered a financial need-based grant of $1,000. Recipients may renew the grant in subsequent years with a continued, demonstrated need.
How to apply?
Your family needs to complete the PSAS application and form from which all grant distributions are based. The Booster award is in addition to other financial assistance your family may first receive from Alter.
Financial Aid
Beyond the scholarships and grants that come directly from Alter, there are additional opportunities for qualifying families to receive help with private school tuition.
How to apply?
Families may submit the PSAS form for financial assistance based on demonstrated economic need. All current students and those who fill out an application are sent a PSAS form in January. In order to be considered for aid, the form must be postmarked by March 1, 2010.
